University President Carol L. Folt’s “moonshot” for athletics builds on recent momentum to support all 21 sports programs and launch USC Athletics into the future…
USC Athletics — Carol Folt announced that USC football will receive a new performance center, which will include three levels dedicated to team operations as well as a rooftop hospitality deck and player lounge. USC football’s new home will also feature a team auditorium, position meeting rooms, recruiting areas, staff offices, and flexible space for future growth.
USC Athletics is also adding a second full-length practice field, which players will access directly from the performance center.
The strategic vision for athletics facilities includes future renovations to the John McKay Center for all student-athletes, a significantly expanded student-athlete dining facility, an upgraded golf practice facility, and enhancements to the Galen Center arena. These transformative initiatives represent USC Athletics’ holistic commitment to sustained excellence across all 21 athletic programs.
USC baseball will receive an upgraded baseball stadium with a capacity of around 2,500.

As expected, 2024 4-star WR Drelon Miller (6-1, 190) from Silsbee, TX, just announced in favor of A&M over #2 USC and LSU.
Miller — “Honestly the coaching staff and it’s home. They showed how much they want me and I feel like I can bring a change to their team and help us get a national championship.”

World reacts to disgusting Georgia Bulldogs news
The Georgia Bulldogs football program under HC Kirby Smart is facing some heavy criticism this week after a pretty revealing investigative report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The AJC’s report determined that throughout Kirby Smart’s time as the HC of the Bulldogs, 11 different players remained with the team even after women reported them for violent encounters to the police, the university, or to both.

Claims like this has brought other coaches down.
Riley and crew are putting together a top 5 class. If we can manage to land a few of the local 5 star kids it may be better than that. Strange that we are doing so well at SJB and not so well at MD. That seems like a role reversal.
Now that Rollo’s gone, who knows if that will have an effect on Trojan recruiting at Mater Dei?
There are so many unique or personal reasons that kids choose some schools over others at different times, that it’s dangerous for us outsiders to generalize.
Personally, I don’t care where USC’s players come from as long as the staff is getting the guys they want most (regardless of star ratings or location) based on their timely, in-depth evaluations in person and from tape.
Yes, who knows, but recruiting works both ways at high-schools too. Just speculating, but I’d think the new coach would like maintain the connections to USC as a pipeline to a top tier program. After all, it helps MD’s recruiting efforts into the pre-prep ranks.
i agree with getting the it’s they want. It just seems strange that MD has about 4 or 5 guys who we want and it looks like we will not get any of them.
Sometimes, I think that’s just the way the recruiting cookie crumbles. I don’t really know why it looks like USC, without a doubt the most dominant all-time Mater Dei feeder connection in the country, seems to be whiffing with the Monarchs this year — though I can sure understand why QB Elijah Brown chose STAN in view of USC’s QB room. But with the way things are pushing ahead with USC football recruiting lately, I’m more worried about Lincoln Riley and his staff not having room for everyone they might want from both the preps and the portal. And if… Read more »
Chris, Recruiting strikes me now as very weird. Now that SC has a robust “pay for play” NIL system in place (I assume it is comparable to any in the nation, particularly with Oregon’s) which is complemented by the best “you earn it” NIL in the nation, SC is having no problem recruiting. The three schools on the West Coast that are recruiting well are SC, Stanford (of all places) and Oregon. My surprises are UW, which is recruiting very poorly. Perhaps the new coach is like Clay Helton – made to look better than he is by an incredible… Read more »
RJJ — I’m not surprised about STAN. Only six of their exceptionally large 26-commit class are 4-stars. For the Cardinal, it’s all about quantity and numbers at this point. If USC tried to bring in a class remotely like this, there would be a mutiny against LR. Also, STAN specifically and steadfastly appeals to a certain type of recruit who will go to STAN more because of the school itself than the success or failure of the football program. In my experience at SuperPrep, STAN was the only school outside of ND that could beat USC head-up in every state… Read more »
What’s your take on UW recruiting?
UW’s player ave rank is higher than STAN’s, 88.06 to 87.56. But the Huskies only have 11 commits, so are only ranked #43 by 247.
I don’t know who the Huskies are in on, nor how they are using NIL or approaching recruiting overall, but I suspect their 2024 recruiting story is largely unwritten, whereas STAN is basically done.
But as of now, if you’re a Husky fan, I’d be worried that UW has allowed itself to fall too far behind. But there’s still time to make up a lot of ground, especially if they play well this season.
I just can’t understand why they are not pulling in more better kids at UW. That head coach they have is no slouch, his record kind of says a lot.
Here’s a very positive spin on UW recruiting per SI.com
“With nine commitments all of a sudden, the Huskies’ efforts look better to everyone…”

Texas OL Makai Saina (6-5, 290) commits to USC, giving the Trojans their 4th 2024 OL commit.
USC football added another road grader in the 2024 class, picking up a Tuesday commitment from Rivals 4-star Arlington (TX) OL Makai Saina over TEXAS and A&M.
Saina projects as an OG for the Trojans after playing LT this past season for Arlington, earning Texas Dist 8-6A first-team recog. Saina, who is half Samoan, was selected for the 2024 Polynesian Bowl.
USC first offered Saina back in July/’22 when he was still an unranked prospect.

Big key … offered before a was even ranked !! Goatboy Kiffin and Suck went off ranking lists mostly just WRs. And their soft shitty teams showed that (Goat’s only good season was all Pete players). Gomer didn’t know a football player from a cheeseburger.
4-star S Marquis Gallegos just committed to childhood fave USC as expected over ORE, MICH, ND and OU, citing the influence of LR, the program’s direction and the new B1G association.
“He’s the most instinctive safety out west and an aggressive big hitter with terrific ball skills,” says 247’s Greg Biggins of the 6-1, 175 pounder.
USC (14 commits) is now 247’s #7 2024 recruiting class, and #1 in the Pac-12 over ORE (#8, 16 commits), STAN (#11, 24), ARIZ (#43, 17) and CU (#48, 8).

USC Men’s Basketball
The No. 1 freshman in the nation will wear No. 1 for USC this season!
Stewart Mandel’s 2023 preseason All-‘wait, they’re still playing college football?!’ team
QB: JT Daniels, RICE (co-captain)
First season of college football: 2018
Another year, another school for Daniels, one of three repeat selections on this season’s list. It has been a rocky road for the former five-star recruit, from starting as a true freshman at USC to losing his job at Georgia to Stetson Bennett to getting benched late last season at West Virginia. Here’s hoping he takes the AAC by storm in what allegedly will be his final go-around in college.
theathletic.com
I think my earlier assessment of JT has proved to be correct over the course of his career – there is talent and smarts there, but he does not process information quickly enough for the position. I don’t know why, but people are different that way. In law school, my wife would finish tests early, which seemed absurd to me because I needed every minute I had, but we generally ended up in the same place at the end. I am very much a “let me think about that for a moment” kind of guy. I think JT is too,… Read more »
Ironically, JT seemingly processes his school transfer options very quickly in the macro sense, with four different relatively short, yet complicated stops at USC, GA, WV — and now RICE. ð I thought JT would be far better than he’s turned out so far, especially coming out in 2018 as the nation’s #1 QB prospect on the nation’s #1 prep outfit, Mater Dei. The poor guy’s been either beaten out or seriously injured on what has seemed like a constant basis. Wouldn’t it be ironic if JT somehow made it to the NFL as a clipboard holder, as Matt Barkley,… Read more »

Preseason! Gotta love it. Texas with Sark at #5?
Suckisian #5 Hahahaha …… he will be in a mental ward or rehab center by mid season. That lazy fraud has no chance lasting there. None.
I’m still fully surprised the Longhorns hired Sark after what he did at UW and USC. I realize Saban rehabbed him, as only Saban can do.
But after all the problems TEXAS football has run into since 2009, the last time TEXAS was any good at 13-1 under Mack Brown, I would have thought Sark would have been lucky to get an interview, let alone the job on the heels of Tom Herman’s face plant in Austin.
Seven Win Sark during his drinking days
Like Kiffy, they share Saban’s agent. Big fat mouthy but effective, Jimmy Sexton. Also known to give bribes and kickbacks to get his clients jobs and extensions. Knowing what we know now of Haden and Swann, you know full well how those career losers, Kiffy and Suck, got the SC job and how Gomer held on to it so long.
Btw, Suck isn’t wanted in Texas. He doesn’t produce this year after two awful years, he is back begging Saban or Pete for a job.
It was a dark Trojan day for me when I woke up only to discover Seven Win Sark had been hired by Haden instead of the suddenly available winner, Chris Petersen.
Haden never recovered, though he at least astutely insulated USC from drunken Sark’s $30 mil unlawful termination suit.
When CP brought his awful 1st year Huskie team (thanks Suck for ruining that program too) into the Coli and beat Suck … it made my year.
Not hiring CP was a big whiff and proved Haden was a complete fraud (Sexton is giving these ADs kickbacks to keep getting SucKiffer hired and extensions).
But in the end landing LR made the past decade more laughable than painful.
As you say, landing LR was the all-time payback from USC to all those Trojan haters who relished the NCAA’s brutal and illegal takedown.
I’ll always be grateful to Mike Bohn, Carol Folt, Rick Caruso and Brandon Sosna for their super aggressive and artful approach to immediately fixing USC football. ✌
USC beats the Ducks again on a big-time prospect
As expected, LB Millikan (CA) 4-star WR Ryan Pellum announced his commitment earlier today to USC over ORE, where his uncle, Don, coached numerous defensive positions from ’93-’17.
Pellum — “Coach Riley is a great guy as well and a great coach. He’s real cool, laid back and very genuine. He’s a high character guy, he is who he is and I really respect him a lot. He’s the type of person I want to be around…”
Pellum is USC’s 13th 2024 commit. Trojan recruiting now ranks No. 8 nationally.

Chatsworth (CA) Sierra Canyon S Marquis Gallegos is expected to commit to USC tomorrow over MICH, OU, ORE and ND, and will announce on the 247Sports YouTube Channel at 4:00 PM (PT).

Gallegos just transferred to Sierra Canyon last week.
Not sure why but I always root against LSU.
I have ever since 2003. I borrowed the explanation from Bleacher Report “In the penultimate BCS standings, USC had a comfortable lead on LSU (6.90 vs. 8.43). The Trojans were ranked higher in the human polls and computer rankings and also had better strength-of-schedule ratings. The expectation was that USC would play Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl with LSU left to howl. But then Boise State beat Hawaii in the final regular-season game of the season in the middle of the Pacific. Say what? Exactly right, that’s what happened. Combined with Syracuse’s 38-12 pasting of Notre Dame, the Tigers got… Read more »

Deion Sanders Set To Have Emergency Surgery Early Friday For Blood Clot
“Primetime” sure has a lot on his plate while trying to somehow resurrect longtime doormat CU.
Todd Brock (Yahoo.com) — Former Cowboys CB and current CU HC Deion Sanders is scheduled to undergo emergency surgery on Friday for a blood clot that’s been found in his groin.
It was also revealed just last week that the 55-year-old Sanders could be facing the possible amputation of his left foot due to the recurring circulation problem that already cost him two of his toes in 2021.

Tidbit of the Day
At the time USC announced its jump to the Big Ten last summer, it had gone 22-21 over the previous four seasons. Seems like a long time ago to me.
On the Move
GA QB commit Dylan Raiola, the No. 1 prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, will be playing his final season of HS football much closer to his future home. Raiola told 247Sports that he’s transferring to Georgia powerhouse Buford ahead of the 2023 season, leaving Pinnacle (AZ) after just a few months with the program. Raiola just transferred to Pinnacle in Jan after playing his JR season at Chandler (AZ).
cbssports.com
Buford is a really good program. It is sort of a public/private hybrid school. Multiple state championships in the last couple of decades.
Trojans Looking Good For Another Commit On June 27
It’s another USC vs ORE battle for West Hills Chaminade 4-star S Marquis Gallegos (6-1, 175). Gallegos will probably visit the Ducks this weekend after tripping to USC last weekend. Both MICH and ND appear to now be out of the picture.

Tough titties for the PAC. Outside of SC, they are a bunch of crazy Left Coast schools (I am leaving out the Four Corner schools). They all smiled like Cheshire Cats when SC got screwed by Paul Dee and the criminals at the NCAA. Karma is a bitch you losers.
Finebaum is such an SEC wonk I find it hard to believe anything he has to say unless it is SEC. We all already know the Pac is dying and it is just a matter of time. My only wish is that Oregon is not allowed into the B1G.
Twisting in the wind… This all made me think more about SDS and their upcoming June 30 deadline to split from the Mountain West to avoid an extra $17 mil exit charge. Talk about a ticking time bomb. Most of us have assumed they would join the Pac-12 if they ever got an actual invite. But with the Pac’s lack of a media deal and not many convinced the conference will survive anyway, maybe the Big 12 would be their better move, assuming that’s even still a possibility now that CU and ARIZ would probably be preferred. SDS just announced it is joining the PAC. Still think it is 50-50 on the PAC surviving over the next 5 years. SDS will not move the needle in any media discussions. Look for SMU to join shortly. I would not at all be surprised to see CO and AZ now exit for the B12. It will depend on the media deal.
“Move the Needle” has to be the phrase of the day for us CFB fans!
Ya, I don’t really see how SDS and SMU move the needle for the Pac-12.
Neither have any real cache regardless of the geographical market locations they are hitched to. Finebaum and I are on exactly the same page there.
I wish SDS the best. I wonder how much of the Pac-12 pie they are gonna get from the longtime members when all is said and done?
I wonder why Utah and ASU are not attractive schools for the Big 12?
There’s big sentiment on the part of BYU fans to keep UTAH, their hugest rival, out of the Big 12. The administrations of the two schools may not be as polarized, but UTAH is more stranded because of that. And while the Big 12 would be better with super solid, often dangerous UTAH in it, they’ve already got the geographic market with BYU. The Utah Jazz and BYU really control the market in-state. UTAH is down the line, and less valuable to the Big 12 in that respect. Plus UTAH is way better than CU and ARIZ, so they seem… Read more »

Let the latest 2024 Trojan commits begin. USC is now ranked #11 by 247Sports with 11 commits.
Trojans have leaped over STAN and are now #2 behind ORE, which sits at #5 nationally with 17 commits.
As expected —
By virtually all accounts, USC is expecting some fantastic commits (either immed or delayed) from this weekend’s official visitors.
Any predictions?
I think USC is going to really shake up Texas with the players they pull in. Smith the linebacker and Miller the WR, both 4* I think look good to commit. Taylor Tatum is big on USC right now, I hope they stay on him strong. Carter from MD on OL. Jordan Lockhart and Dylan Williams at LB would be great. I sure wish someone knew just how many slots are open.
Dave Roberts the Clay Helton of baseball?
A little bit but with much more success. This year will be the end of the run though. Our bullpen is beyond terrible and we have no depth in the lineup.
I just think about the amazing talent we have had the last few years, the Dodgers should have won 2 or more Championships. The question I hear from a lot of fans is Dave just a figure head and the actual decisions are sent down from the executive office.
Totally agree. I don’t know how I feel about analytics, it drives every dodger decision. Sometimes I think it’s OK to just go with the old school gut.
Analyzing 15-0 must be tough. I haven’t really watched the Dodgers this year, but things seem to have gone south big-time in Chavez Ravine.
Clay easily takes the cake for me. But I don’t live and die for the Dodgers.
One of the most frustrating experiences of my USC Trojan follower life has been watching The Cat on USC’s sideline, then being forced to anticipate his lame, disingenuous, horrendous pressers afterward. It was like being on severe probation, 24/7, at least for me.
When I heard he had been finally dumped after that ’21 smackdown from STAN in the Coliseum, it was a glorious day! Hallelujah ✌
Clay was absolutely horrible by any measure. But the worst was his flailing attempts at conning the media( and fan base) with his BS ” fighting like warriors”, ” we will look at the film and correct it all” and ” I can’t wait to see this team in Nov” crap. If he were a Man, he would have said the performance was unacceptable, and I need to fix it. But he lacked the guts to do that.
I question if he will even be the coach at GSU in 2025 when they visit the Coliseum.
After the stunt they pulled with the hate group( Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence), the Dodgers are dead to me. Hope they come in last place. Glad the Giants swept them.
Vin Scully would never have permitted this to happen on his watch.

Some athletes just want to go out of the area or State to further their life ambitions. It hurts he is a lineman and that is where USC football has to raise the bar in keeping them home. But at the same time, there are linemen from out of State coming here so it evens out? And yet, who knows, Brandon could change his mind and reconsider staying home. I would say that in the case of any programs on his list that won’t play in the BIG or SEC.

From the photos I’ve seen of this future complex, there is no softball field. I’ve been harping for several years that USC does not have a woman’s softball team. This rhetoric has always baffled me considering the Dodgers played baseball in the LA Coliseum for 4 years before Dodger Stadium was built. I think that once we get that B1G money, we will be able to do much more with athletic facilities. I watched my future daughter-in-law (Auburn) play a soccer match against UGA a few years ago. UGA had a women’s soccer field and a softball complex each with capacities of 5000 for seating. 2 football fields is one for the band? From what I’ve seen it looks like a first rate center. I don’t really think an indoor practice field is needed considering the B1G schedule. It’s possible games will be under foul weather next season. The good news is we have a coach who knows what he’s doing. Maybe I shouldn’t worry.
It looks like one of the fields will be artificial turf–could be helpful for the team to practice on the same surfaces that they will be playing on for that particular Saturday….
There’s a lot of artificial turf in the B1G (though NEB is going back to real grass under their new coach), unless I’m just way off base,
Why full-sized fields? My UCLA buddies all tell me a standard practice field is 80 yards long.
Truer words were never spoken…
“Hiring Lincoln Riley was a sign that USC wanted to be a serious football program again.”
What does this mean for the Trojans? Antonio Morales (The Athletic) — New facilities were desperately needed for USC’s football program. The university completed the John McKay Center in 2012, but 11 years is an eternity in college athletics. While it’s a nice facility, USC is one of the rare high-profile football programs that still shares its weight room with other sports. There wasn’t enough office space to house a robust recruiting or support staff in the building either. A new facility will help solve those problems and bring USC into the modern age of the college football arms race.… Read more »
Very true Allen. In addition, this move indicates USC will no longer accept having a football facility 2nd rate to Oregon’s renown football Palace recruits rave about and is written in sports stories. One thing I’ve been slightly surprised by is the early public mention by so many of USC’s commits and targets that USC’s matriculation into the B1G has already positively affected their view of the program as an even better place to hang their hat. Our national recruiting is off the charts.
I expected an effect — just not so soon, and so prevalent. It turns out that better competition and new exposure to places where CFB is just more important is already a massive bonus to USC’s historic decision to split from the Pac-12.
I think the selling point for recruits is even though USC is a flagship program that pro scouts pay attention to, it’s the fact Trojan football will now be playing in a league that is respected across the nation and the games will be against programs that are supported & respected big time. USC will be, like never before, a nation-wide coast to coast identified program. That gets a recruit’s attention.
