Clay Helton emphasized that there were several players who earned votes to be captain from their teammates. “One of the things I was amazed with this time around in the players’ voting was how many leaders there were up top,” he said. “These four were at the very, very top.”
Like some of the other posters it was surprising that Slovis was not picked as a captain, but I would not be amazed if the humble Slovis actually campaigned for the inclusion of the terrific punter Griffiths as a captain… Is anyone else concerned about all the rave comments of the Offensive Line coming around, we’re really bonding now, we keep getting better each day?– I mean, the team is talking and acting as if they just discovered that the football can also be moved on the ground…. And is it necessary to write these glowing reports of great plays… Read more »
In about two weeks we’ll see if the made a good choice for leaders. All I need is to find out if I can get the PAC 12 channel in San Marcos or if I have to record the game. The only good thing about recording the game is I’ll be able to watch EdO whoop UCLA. Choices choices…
I’ve always felt the entire kicking game is the hugest overlooked aspect of football teams. I’m very glad to see Griffiths named. He’s got an insane leg. Big weapon.
I’m glad to see that Griffiths was named as a captain. What I’d like better is if USC took advantage of his size, strength, experience and athletic ability. His booming leg makes opposing teams quickly retreat when he goes to punt. If it’s fourth and short, why not let him run for some first downs with all of that talent. Even if they spy him, he’s likely a guy who can beat one man. Just a thought.

The absence of Kedon Slovis as a 2021 team captain seems to bother, or at least intrigue, a lot of Trojan fans:
These were the 2020 USC Captains — Isaiah Pola-Mao, Kedon Slovis, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Alijah Vera-Tucker

Dish has Pac12 if you can’t find it elsewhere.
I have it at home it’s at my future retirement place I need it. We’re heading there for weekends away from Rialto
I can’t remember a kicker being a captain, but if he is as good as the Cat says he is then what the heck.

Unless Kedon refused the nomination I have to wonder why he is not a captain.
Great question seeing as how it his last season at USC you would think the starting QB would automatically be a captain.
