UPDATE 10/17/2021 – Final Results
TMC4USC, LawyerJohn and Mr&MrsSteveG are still the ones to beat. It will be interesting watching the top 3; do they decide to play conservatively and try to hold onto their lead, do they wait to place their wagers after seeing what the others do. For the rest do they need to start getting agressive and go for broke or do they let the top 3 fight it out and then grab a top 3Â spot. I am interested to see what everyone does.

Oh well, most of us lost points this week, so time to lick our wounds and prepare for next week: Oregon -3 at sucla– too close to call but Oregon has more to play for. Tennessee -27 at Alabama– Those are a lot of points to give up and Tennessee can score.. But they will need a heavy infusion of golf balls to have a chance at victory. You think you got it bad, try making a living brokering bets on college games. Most bettors expected Oregon to be all over Cal, and yet the Bears could have won… .Did anybody foresee the spanking ASU took in Utah?… .Florida getting shellacked, or at least floored, in Death Valley fooled most bettors.. .Mississippi just got by Tennessee, but could not avoid a golf-ball throwing attack by the loyal Volunteers’ fans. Georgia beats up Kentucky 30-13 but Kentucky scores a TD in the last 3 seconds to give it the win against the spread.
Oregon did pull out the game in the end, but even the home Autzen fans were booing the Ducks for not dominating the Cal Bears. Oregon does not belong in the “Final-4” conversation after that performance, and SC will now probably be an underdog when playing up at Berkeley. Geez Louise, the only game SC will be favored is versus Arizona, and even that won’t be a gimme.
Cal 17, Oregon 10, fourth Quarter. I thought it was the safest bet of the week. Man, is our conference screwed. No wonder we aren’t taken seriously nationally.

ASU looks better than I thought they would. As a team they don’t seem as negatively affected by the massive campus visit recruiting scandal that took place recently on the Sun Devil campus, involving at least a few coaches.
I guess since the NCAA has been neutered, ASU isn’t afraid of the hammer. Based on what I’ve seen, they’re probably the best in the South. But they and Herm Edwards always find a way to disappoint up to now, so there’s plenty of time for that to happen.
I’m going all in on the Ducks….

Steveg must know more than I do because I would not touch any of those games, too close to call. In fact, I don’t like any of the bets except one. As I advised, and no one listens to me, it makes more mathematical sense to bet on only one game; otherwise, you will be mired in 50-50 land if betting on multiple games, and that 50-50 line will decrease if you don’t keep your bet constant.
