Please remember, this is supposed to be about fun and Trojan camaraderie.
There are no entry fees.
Every participant will receive 20,000 betting units.
You must bet a minimum of 1 game and 1,000 units each week
There will be a limited number of games to choose from each week.
The contest ends on December 4, 2022.
I will post the point spread for each week’s games on Monday
All wagers must be received by Friday at noon PT. (Exact date will posted weekly)
Wagers must be posted on the TDB (preferred) or they can be emailed to: info@trojandailyblog.com.
I will review each wager to make sure that it was correctly placed. I will then respond to your entries to let you know that they have been accepted.
If you do not see your wager acknowledgement please contact me as soon as possible by posting a comment on the blog prior to the first game you have wagered on.
If a game is cancelled or moved to another date, then that game will not be counted as a bet (no action).
Winning wagers will be paid as ‘even money’, for example; if you bet 1,000 units, you will win 1,000 units.
The winner will be determined by who has the most betting units in their account at the end of the contest.
I will keep track of everyone’s account and this accounting will be posted on TDB on Monday. Please review my figures. If you think that a mistake has been made you must contact me by 9pm Monday – otherwise these numbers will be considered official.
First Prize is: 150.00
Second Prize is: 75.00
Third Prize is: 25.00
If two people end up in first place, then the first and second prize will be added together and that amount will be split between the two winners.
I will handle all disputes and my decision will be final.
Anyone can be removed from the contest for exhibiting poor sportsmanship, as determined by me.
By making wagers on the games you acknowledge you agree to these rules.

USC -9.5 for 5000
GSU +21.5 for 500

Thanks John and Allen for running the contest again this year.

Stanford beats lowly FCS Colgate by 31. USC beats a stronger FBS Rice by 52. USC should win this by at least 10.

Thanks for the GSU entry. Nebraska beats a lowly FCS UND by 21. Huskers should beat GSU but not by more than 21. But not as confident about this pick (it is Helton) as the Trojan beat down to come on Stanford.

So this is a classic match-up. Two guys who both win and lose ugly, one teetering on losing his big brand job amidst a very angry fan base, the other just booted from a similar situation.

I love CFB rankings, for some reason, whenever and wherever I see them.

They all matter in different ways to me, but in the end, they all stand for history. And historically, USC has always been relatively loved by the polls, with some sad exceptions.

SC was loved by the polls even when the Cat was the coach. The week before he was fired, I think the Cat was #15. This year, SC will need ND to run the table, Utah to rebound, and UCLA to have no more that two losses and ranked coming into our game.

I don’t see Clemson in the top 10 with that offense. Notre Dame has problems and had TAM not scored a couple cheap scores late in the game they would have dropped. They are not a top 10 either. With USC’s defensive showing it just goes to show how these voters are so influenced by school reputation, coaches name, and offensive highlights.

I’m SO glad to see ORE now completely go down the USC/ALA route. A loss like that stays with a team for many years.

I’d love to see the Ducks faceplant big-time, that being the only constant amongst their constantly changing uniforms.

Colin Cowherd’s College Football Tiers

Tier 1 — ALA and GA

Tier 2 — OHIO ST and CLEM

Tier 3 — MICH, ND, OU, USC, MIA, BAY, ARK and A&M (not quite enough talent yet)

I was totally unimpressed with CLEM’s bad offense last night vs GT. I doubt CLEM is a PO team.

Absent something very odd happening, AL, GA and tOSU/MI winner are as close to locks as I can see. If ND can run the table coming to SC and SC can run the table (highly doubtful given our D), then the SC/ND game will be for a playoff spot. I really liked Arledge’s take on the team – great O and the D is very much a work in process.

I never get on football because my mom claimed to have lost a week’s salary. However since I am not betting anything except tokens, I can afford to play. I also noticed there is no maximum bet limit (but if I’m wrong I’ll adjust it) So:
USC-9.5 for 10,000 (almost two week’s salary)
Georgia Southern +21.5 for 500
Cal-13.5 for 500
Fresno State +1.5 for 500

The OLE MISS QB battle isn’t over yet. USC transfer Jaxson Dart started against TROY and finished 18/27 for 154 passing yds with one TD and one pick in a 28-10 win. After scoring on four of their first six drives, the Rebels’ offense struggled badly in the second half.  Luke Altmyer will get his chance to start next week vs CENT ARK. Whoever ends up as QB1 will benefit from the presence of Zach Evans and a stable of backs who averaged 6.7 ypc on Sat. “It’s great our defense showed up today,” OLE MISS HC Lane Kiffin said. “About as ugly as you can play… Read more »

So, the best ex-USC QB on Saturday was Kedon. After reading your report, it is clear that none of them are remotely in Caleb’s class. I did not see the AL game, but from all the other games I watched, Caleb was by far the best QB I saw play.

Per our earlier discussion, any kid who LR is willing to coach would be nuts to turn him down. I am convinced that LR asked Dart and Slovis to leave, and asked Moss to stay. This Nelson kid is one lucky kid. LR has identified him as having the talent and personality to excel as a collegiate QB (like Heisman level QB). And, LR is the best QB developer in the nation. Nelson will sit a year and then lead SC into the B1G. Amazing time to a Trojan. NOW if we could just get some DL! By the way,… Read more »

Indeed, I’m afraid USC’s DL is gonna be a problem this year.

Throw in an important injury in the defensive trenches and LR will need to use ALL his powers, just as Vito Corleone insisted when he took Sonny to his favorite undertaker.

As you say, It’s such an amazing time to be a Trojan. Add what looks like slightly over-rated UCLA and ND teams, assuming you think first games are any real indication, and it’s anyone’s guess where these 2022 Trojans could end up.

Your next #55?

For me, #55 dominates the game. I still remember what Chris Claibourne and his game against FSU in Tallahassee. Gentry was hardly a major factor against Rice. I certainly hope he reaches that level of play, and I hope it shows up next Saturday. As we both agree, the DL is not going to scare anyone this year. If Gentry and Lee play like they did the first half of Rice, we are in real trouble against any team that can effectively run the ball. But, the D did pitch a shut out in the 2nd half. But, this group… Read more »

As far as I’m concerned, the first half against RICE is long gone and now meaningless.

I certainly don’t think this USC team is in “real trouble” based on anything I’ve seen, except over-rated Korey Foreman looks decidedly uninspiring to me, and underweight as well. Thankfully, LR also brought in Romello Height from AUB, because we’re gonna need him badly.

USC football is suddenly a dream come true. The Trojans still have a long way to go, but it’s been so fascinating for me to observe USC suddenly get the nation’s complete respect back. Heck, we’re already practically a top 10 team again.

For so many years, USC football had lost the respect of the nation. Now, USC is already a team people will fear again, if they don’t already.

USC’s D will improve. Many of these guys have never played together before. Injuries to our defense are my bete noire (“black beast”) in French.

I now think we are good enough to win the Pac-12.

UCLA, ORE and UTAH are no better than the Trojans IMO. I didn’t know that until Saturday, but I believe that now.

In fact, the Ducks already look like they blew it with their hire. It’s way too early to pronounce any judgment like that, but I’m going to anyway.

You should read Arledge’s take on Oregon. It is hilarious. He really hates Oregon and its shows. Said Lanning hired a bunch of slick salesman as his staff. They cannot coach worth a damn, but they can really sell. Kirby Smart was probably concerned about Lanning using his GA connection to recruit against him. claiming OR is the SEC of the West coast. So, he took that play right out of Lanning’s hands. It was really smart of Smart (could not resist the pun).

Any qb that plays for Kiffy and Snark … will be head case failures.
Bamer qb’s had so much talent around them and being just assistants Goat and Suck couldn’t quite ruin them like they almost did Leinart in the early games of 2005.
Lincoln Riley has forgotten more football than those two frauds would ever know.

Looks like a fun contest but I’ve never paid attention to betting odds, point spreads and gambling in general. So I’ll pass on participating. I just want SC to win as many games as possible and regain the National prominence it once had. My alma mater is off to a good start but the game in Palo Alto will be a good test.

I’m the guy who’s been complaining for years about USC “winning ugly“. It was a brutally negative Clay Helton trademark. But those days are finally over. Watching USC on Saturday was such a pleasure across the board. USC’s got some issues. That’s never been a secret. Agree Allen … there is winning ugly Gomer style and winning ugly like maybe Pete’s first year ( see OT win vs Oregon St ). Like Pete, with LR, you can see can see hope. With hacks like Kiffy, Suck and Gomer … you knew it would only get worse and it did.
It will be sooner than later before SC returns to the level they should be. The O will make SC difficult to beat. The D needs a year or two before they are championship level.

I still can’t believe how polished Caleb Williams looked. We are so often disappointed in this world when the event we’ve been longing for happens.

Not this time. Not with this USC team. We’ll probably lose a couple of games, maybe more. But I used to dread watching Helton/Sark-coached teams.

It’s such a brave new world in Trojan football, formerly known as “Tailback U”. I wonder what this generation of USC Trojans will come to be known as?

Watching the spring game … you knew, it was a new USC ! Having a good/great qb at USC will not be a problem with LR. And we all know it starts there. Now let’s get some beef up front !
