Allen,
Thanks for keeping this blog fair. Too many downers out there. I get that we aren’t in a golden era of Trojan football, but come on, way too many cynical “fans”. I can barely read other boards, trolls galore.

After last nights debacle by Arizona, this perhaps has merit. This, for all those who think Graham Harrell is the savior of this program. In doing just a little research, I found, beyond all the hubris that surrounds this man, some interesting and somewhat disturbing facts. While at North Texas, 3 years, with Seth Littrell the Head Coach. Their record for those years is 23-17 .575 Win-Loss percentage. In looking at any of the power 5 conferences, any team with that W-L percentage puts a team in the middle of the conference, aka, average! The most vexing statistic was how… Read more »

If you want to find some comparisons, try Oklahoma. They are much closer to the style we will play with the type of athletes we will have.

Not saying we are Oklahoma, but’s it’s a much more fair comparison. Lincoln Riley is doing just fine with the air raid.

USC has exactly the same type of athletes as Oklahoma – except for the back to back Heisman quarterbacks (both #1 picks), 4 offensive lineman that got drafted last year (2nd to 4th rounds), their WR (1st round) and their RB got drafted as well (6th round). I have a feeling that this has had a lot to do with their level of play. USC might match their WR’s (Bleacher Report ranks USC #4 and Oklahoma #3) and hopefully RB but cannot compete in the other extremely important positions. Just for fun everyone who states that USC has the best… Read more »

In the previous 11 seasons before the arrival of Littrell/Harrell, North Texas had a winning percentage of 27%, so what is your point? It is obvious that their presence had a big(positive) impact on the program.
I have serious doubts about Helton, because I believe he is an incompetent buffoon, but I am thrilled that we have Harrell as our OC. And are you really implying that since he wasn’t drafted by the NFL, he can’t coach?

With all of the speculation and wringing of hands about this season, I am fairly certain this year will be record breaking for all passing stats. Attempts is a given, same with completions. Yards not too much of a stretch, if we are good TD’s will fall as well.

Something I learned last night, the two least blitzed college teams last year- Texas Tech and WSU.

Was enlightened to see Kingsbury’s version of the “Air Raid” get stuffed by the Raiders last night. They blitzed Kyler Murray and even got him for a safety. It was only a pre-season NFL game, but offered some interesting ways to defend an “Air Raid” team. Wondering if the “Air Raid’ will die out, just like the Wishbone-T.

Wow! The Grand Old Dame never looked so good. Well, maybe when she was built 96 years ago. I still don’t like the bleachers placed in front of the peristyle end, but one can’t have it all. The writer in the L.A. Times this morning was not optimistic about SC football being worthy of playing in such a magnificent venue. But we shall see madam writer.
