USC Trojans This & That — 3/16

Is Lynn Swann a strong enough leader and appropriately involved to be the overseer of USC athletics? Or is he asleep at the watch as egregious problems continuously emerge under his tenure?

It’s sad that Dan Owens has virtually been ignored by today’s activities. There is a picture of him but no discussion. He was a solid defensive lineman and a great player for USC. The fact that he endured playing for Larry Smith is a feat in and of itself!

Mizaru, Kikazaru, and Iwazaru have been perfectly reincarnated in Lynn Swann. Taking no responsibility for the continuing degradation of USC sports on his watch demonstrates a complete lack of awareness and leadership. Swann needs to pull his head out of the sand and resign/retire.

Lynn Swann is sure following the coattail of interim president Wanda Austin in playing the victim card about the scandal. After Bill Plasche blasted Swann for being a phony AD, Swann or his superiors had him go to the LA Times and wipe some tears off his face to anyone who would listen. If SC actually goes outside the family to pick a new President(highly unlikely) you would hope that this person would want to distance themselves from Swann and all the other incompetent people at the school. Time to clean house in a big way

As an outsider with limited information, I cannot say if Swann is more ostrich than swan. But this is certainly a wake-up call for him to improve his work.

If only USC was not about “knowing USC” they could probably become the USC that they already think they are. The country club continues.

His interview was an expected response. In my opinion he may be good at raising funds, but his oversight and leadership is terrible.

No doubt. He is there to raise money, not oversee successful (on the field) athletic teams. This, on top of the corruption, makes the situation pathetic.
