In CCh’s press conference last week he said something that confused me. On the injury report, he only mentioned two players, Daniel I and Stephen Carr. Of course Daniel I is always injured so no news there. However Carr’s name surprised me. I may not remember it correctly, but I thought Stephen was declared well just before the end of the season?

Scipio I watched a video recapping that conference and they were saying carr is limited but didn’t go in depth about it saying he was doing workouts and should be ready by spring ball, Carr hasn’t had a consistent healthy status so it doesn’t surprise me. Ford is the other that is listed but Helton said he will be reevaluated in August so even though he is a beast we may not be able to see him for awhile

I feel like I may be an island, but I hope Helton does change. I hope he does everything possible to bring discipline and physicality to our team. I don’t think anyone other than Norte Dame on our schedule can match our athletes, I hope that bears out in results.

I don’t want Helton to fail, I hope he turns this around and we get back to national prominence this year.

I hope so too Chris, however Helton has proven that his actions never match words. At this point we are hoping for a miracle. I could be wrong, but I don’t think there’s ever been a coach who has failed like Helton has, then turned the program around back to a national championship level.

Unfortunately, I can’t either. But, if Helton does what he says, which is let his staff coach and do the bulk of X’s and O’s, I think it can work. He needs to build the culture not just talk about it. Whatever it is, faith family football, how ever that translates to the football piece and becoming more disciplined and physical, do it. PJ Fleck and Dabo have built their reputations and programs on being head coaches who focus on culture and recruiting and letting their staff coach. Helton may be able to do the same.

Yep, I can’t see Clay Helton ever turning this program around the way it needs to be. He just isn’t the type of HC a big time football program needs to manage it. He is too wishy washy in what he says versus what actually happens. If there are obstacles in his way, then that is an even bigger reason why he shouldn’t be here as HC. He always has holes in the dam to fill-fix and can’t.

I’m trying to find something to look forward to this season. One thing that came to mind is that Mike Leach always produced with 2-3 players in his system. Maybe we can to? We have more 3 stars than ever. Just wishful thinking I guess

I watched quite a few videos recapping Helton and the recruiting class and his plans for the season. I think Helton is preaching what needs to be said but it’s gonna be a matter of him actually implementing the system. Also one thing I found out was our recruiting class rank is based on us having Puka in the class so if he changes schools like it seems is gonna happen our recruiting rank will drop. Which could drop us in the pac12 even more of an embarrassment. One thing I will say is our DB class looks solid regardless… Read more »

If it wasn’t for Harrell coming in, can you imagine what this program would have looked like going into 2019 season? CH’s shortcomings/failures that have accumilated over the past 3-years have finally surrounded him to where there is little room for failure or this program will fall apart. We know what we can expect from the defense & Pendergast. All eyes will be on Harrell and his ability to make something out of what Helton has available.

Jamaica, I didn’t watch too many games last season but one thing I noticed halfway through was the fact that helton had started to lose control of his team and I think that’s the biggest thing for him. Had we not gotten harrell i had heard that jedd fisch was the man so it wouldn’t have been terrible if we didn’t get him but I think they should’ve locked that deal down as soon as KK interviewed for the NFL. If they lock him down then, then maybe we keep Bru ( granted rumors have it he moved to family).… Read more »
