The #1 ranked USC Women’s Water Polo team beat Wagner today, 12-5, earning the right to face UCLA tomorrow at USC’s Uytengsu Aquatics Center at 3 pm in the semifinals. The winner moves on to the national championship contest Sunday at 3 pm against either Stanford or California.
By the way, Wagner College is a private, national liberal arts college (enrollment approx 2,200) in the New York City borough of Staten Island, NY. It was founded in 1883. USC was founded in 1880.
USC and UCLA have already played three times this season, USC winning 6-4, 11-5 and 13-10.
Stanford is the only team which has beaten USC this season, 9-3. The Trojans won the two rematches, 8-5, and 13-12 in overtime just this past April 29.
USC has beaten California this year, 6-5 and 11-6.
USC Women’s Water Polo is shooting for its fifth national championship and last won the title in 2016, 8-7 over Stanford. Last year Stanford won the title, 8-7 over UCLA.
For the last 17 years, the winner has always been either USC (4), Stanford (6), or UCLA (7).
