USC Is Sending 47 Athletes to the Olympics

USC’s participation in the Olympics dates back to 1904, when Emil Breitkreutz ’06 traveled to St. Louis, becoming the first USC student to compete in the Olympic Games. Breitkreutz took home a bronze medal in the 800m — marking the beginning of a Trojan Olympic legacy that today is unrivaled.

Since then, USC has produced more Olympians (472), overall medalists (307) and gold medalists (144) than any other university in the United States.

The Olympic games are scheduled to run from Friday, July 23rd to Sunday, August 8th. Some preliminary events will begin as early as Wednesday, July 21st. They will start each day at 3:00 a.m. Pacific Time (PT)/8:oo p.m. JST (Japan Standard Time).
