Markese Stepp’s mother Evelyn, has put out a guide for mother’s with son’s being recruited for their athletic abilities. She mentioned although it was Deland that got them to visit USC. It was Clay who flipped them to USC.
She said Coach Helton was the only coach they encountered at any school who gave the academic presentation to families. She knew that her son would be in good hands, looked after and receive a good education.

Helton continues to impress me as a man of character, he cares about the players long term prospects, and people see that.

Thank goodness the season is down to 17 days, although in reality it is down to 24 with Stanford. And then all the prognostications, the predictions, the assessments, the evaluations of talent, and the guesses as to improvements can all be thrown out the window. Because the games will commence, and reality will prevail. Can’t wait for ol’ man reality to make his appearance.

Don’t forget we will have suffer with the likes of College Game spouting out who is in the top 4 and how great the current play off system is. I only watch that show for SC stories and the last 5 minutes and Corso. He’s hilarious.

The team seems to be much better than last year. Not certain how that plays out, but they are actually hitting in practice (with resulting injuries), but the injuries are not that severe and having some vets out is giving the true frosh and redshirt frosh lots of reps. Basically, the depth is there and it seems that it is being developed. One can never know until the team plays a quality opponent (Stanford Week #2), but the optimism seems justified.
