I listened to Dan Weber’s online report of the PRP last Friday. First time this summer he could talk with the players. I was stunned with what he reported. Sounded like the kids have given up on the S&C coach and, for all practical purposes, Porter Gustin is the de facto S&C coach. Per Dan, the kids KNOW that they have to get more physical, stronger, and tougher AND want to do just that. Dan also reported that the players went to Helton with their concerns. It is now clear, that SC has recruited the right kind of kids. It… Read more »

Dan Weber on Ryan’s 247 Board just put up an analysis that agreed with Allen – next year will depend on the OL; Dan also agreed with Allen that the OL performance last year stunk. Dan called out Helton and Callahan for lack of physical practices and lack of mental toughness. He agreed with Allen: if SC does not significantly improve in the trenches, the 2018 season is cooked; one may put a fork in it. I think Allen would agree that the major disaster last year with the OL; it simply disappeared in tough games. The performance against tOSU… Read more »

TrojanRjj and all other Trojans who spent the Saturdays of the 2017 Trojan Football Season laid back in a Hammock sipping Unsweetened Tea instead of paying close attention to the USC personnel giving it their best on the field of play, Missed the Boat. AN INCREDIBLE NUMBER OF INJURIES TO OUR OFFENSIVE LINE during the 2017 football is the SOLE REASON, IMO, our OL looked shaky beginning with the Texas game. To Win The PAC12 with 1/2 an OL has to be one of the half dozen greatest coaching achievements in USC Trojan History. Congratulations, Coach Helton and Coach Callaway… Read more »

For what it is worth, I have had season tickets for about 30 years (just gave them up) and flew in from TX to see every home game last year. I am fully aware of the injuries, but EVERY team has injuries, including I think GA (or AL) in the NC game and they played a true freshman. For the most part, the OL was awful last year and simply not prepared. I will be posting shortly above about SC’s strength and conditioning (the kids went to Helton and complained about the S&C coach – basically, Porter Gustin is now… Read more »

I know a lot of Trojan fans have their sites set on a big season from Stephen Carr, if he can remain healthy. I certainly hope so. But I’ve gotta say, I am really high on Aca Cedric Ware this season and I suspect that he and Markese Stepp could be a one-two punch that would be punishing to opposing run defenses. I was particularly impressed with Ware in my recent rewatch of the Arizona game last year. I think he has everything we would need in a primary back. I am not only concerned about Carr’s injury history thus… Read more »

For Ware to succeed, the OL must improve. He is not as good as RoJo and needs an OL that can open holes rather than his creating them. Carr can create; I do not think Ware can. If given even competent OL play, I think Ware can be a real force, but, after last year, that is a very big IF.

Just looked at coliseum camera, grass is all in on the field, and seats are going in really fast. Sure looks like they will be ready.

What is Helton looking forward too this year? Well according to espn:

“USC coach Clay Helton: “I’m most looking forward to walking back into the historic Coliseum with a group of seniors that I started my head coaching journey with three years ago and helping them achieve their goal of a championship, which would add to their legacy of winning a Rose Bowl, capturing a Pac-12 championship and extending our 16-game home winning streak.”

Hopefully, Helton’s also looking forward to ending his streak of getting absolutely gutted and blown out on prime-time TV by the better teams and ending USC’s habit of playing sloppy ball and down to the ability of all his lesser opponents. That’s what the majority of Trojan fans are looking forward to.

Damn right Jack! I hope Helton feels personally insulted by his team’s record in big road games on national TV last year.

Unfortunately, I still doubt the presence of the “fire in the belly” with Helton. I hope this is the season he proves me wrong. Please let it be so….

It’s time for this bad loss, win ugly BS to stop, It just has to. Can’t go through another cliff-hanger USC season where good teams demolish us and we’re waiting until OT to put away the others.

Now, USC has the full-on depth and front line talent to get ‘er done across the board and make the POs. Come on Helton! Make it happen.

I am no big sports fan, except if it involves SC, but if there is a 7th game, a football playoff, or a world cup championship on the line, I am sports’ biggest fan. I recall being in a hotel room when France last won the title, and screaming so loudly that the management had to knock on my door to tell me to quiet down. France vs England or Croatia on Sunday will be fun. And then it will be another 4 years before I watch another soccer match.

Just read an article on bleacher report on Amon-Ra St. Brown. It is dated about a year ago. Learned the kid speaks German, French as well as English, with his Mom being German and German being the language they speak at home. He chose SC, in part, because he is about the same size as Woods, Lee, Avalon, and JuJu. Talk about diversity : SC has had a Polynesian black in JuJu and a German black in Amon-Ra. Really interesting kid. Can hardly wait to see him perform!

Turns out Chip Kelly was right about LeSean McCoy. Remember, Chip traded him out of Philly and he called Chip a racist? (Even though Chip replaced him with a black RB!) Well, a video just surfaced of McCoy physically assaulting his significant other. Chip got it right, although we do not know the reason. My guess is McCoy will claim the standard CTE defense (my concussion damage brain made me do it!), which I think if garbage (if so, we would have seen a LOT more of this behavior – this is one of a handful I think). Most likely,… Read more »

That report mentioned some bad stuff. How he beat his dog into kidney failure. He also beat his son for peeing on the bed. Crazy stuff…

Not sure if this was previously mentioned. Joseph Lewis was released from jail Friday after serving 21 days after pleading no contest in May to two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery.

A USC spokesman said Friday that Lewis’ status with the team hasn’t changed and he remains off the roster.

Lewis told the LA Times in May he hoped to return to USC in time for the start of fall camp Aug. 3.

Well I sure hope he doesn’t. I’m sure the SEC will take him.

An arbitrator decided that former USC coach Steve Sarkisian hadn’t a leg to stand on and dismissed the case.

I would have preferred that Sark just apologize and move on rather than suing us.

I doubt anyone would argue this point Rock. Certainly not I.
