This shows one important thing to me, that Alabama does not squander their money, they are mid pack pay wise, Yet they are a top tier program.

With the in fighting on the BOT and in the Administration, it’s no wonder there is no permanent president. How much will they have to pay to get someone to take that gig and would he/she be someone to stand up to them?

WOW! Thank you. We can now get a flavor for what is going on. This is outright war in the BOT and the faculty. The interim was obviously an awful choice as she is obviously very “social progressive” in every worst way. Man, SC cannot get these decisions correct. With Trustees retaining attorneys and major donors attacking the interim President publicly, this cannot end well. And, the football team is definitely in the back seat. At stake is the future course of SC. It is clear that the interim President has done to a large number of the Trustees what… Read more »

What Wanda has done is kick a Hornets Nest, she exemplifies the Post Modern Feminist Woman with Power, did you read the Times article ? He, (the Dean) is not culpable personally and in the past any grievances brought to his attention were handled swiftly. Yet she “Thinks He should have taken a different tack” and complaints he was not aware of are still in his purview and as such he is responsible, reminds me of Paul Dee “High Profile Players require High Profile Compliance “ With Elder Viterbi and Hsieh on the board, she’s picked a fight she can’t… Read more »

I said last summer that the faculty is trying to rule the BoT and now it is quite obvious. The interim needs to be replaced with a permanent president immediately. There is no sound reason for this search to take so long. She is overstepping her boundaries I believe, and should back off. Piss off major donors like this and bad stuff will always follow and USC does not need any more problems. The BoT should be in overdrive to get this university back on four wheels.

What I am delighted to see is the BoT going after a very evangelical social progressive feminist. It means there is some hope and Wanda or her ilk should now be out as the President. I really am delighted. Wanda is obviously as clueless as Clay. She picked the wrong fight.

My daughter is a fairly recent Marshall grad, and she thinks “Wanda” is full of it. I have said it earlier; rot at the bottom, rot in the middle, and rot at the top of this administration.

USC makes it official, OC and QB coach: “Kliff Kingsbury, one of college football’s top offensive minds who has produced explosive offenses and developed prolific quarterbacks, has been named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at USC.”

Finally official, whew, shouldn’t they hire a QB coach, they have an opening?

KK wants to be both the OC and the QB coach. This means that JT will have to lose his “personal coaches”. Or he will need to transfer. I would think JT would be thrilled to be coached by an elite level offensive mind. My guess is KK will get to chose his other coaches: the OL, the WRs, the TEs, and the RBs. The RB and OL coach is Tim Drevno. I doubt he survives (but I have been so wrong on this that my guess is probably wrong). There is no WRs coach and I think Kerry Colbert… Read more »

If Helton is smart and can check his ego, he will let KK build his own staff on offense.

Helton needs to let KK run the offense and decide on the coaches needed and stay out of the way.

I highly doubt JT is going to dazzle KK with his knowledge of the game, it worked with the Head Dufus, Martin and Ellis but will not with KK.

KK knows the game and if JT shows the arrogance to KK he’s displayed on several occasions in interviews, along with personal trainers, it could be his undoing.

JT should be pretty excited to finally get some high quality coaching. He seems like a kid up for the challenge and competition. We may see a real QB competition and fun to see who thrives under KK’s teaching.

I am so awful at my prognostications that I fear making one. My money now would be on Jack Sears. He can move and throw. JT is a thrower with very limited mobility. JT also brings a lot of baggage, but that baggage may not be JT’s doing. We just do not know how awful this last staff was. My guess is JT is smarter (a lot smarter) than Tee or Clay or Ellis. What do you do as a student when you KNOW you are much smarter than your teachers. Simple answer: you listen to them as little as… Read more »

Smart thing for KK to do is start EVERYONE at square one, all equal and weed them out.

Don’t worry, USC recruits its self. All the coaches have to do is sit back and wait by the fax machine for LOI to roll in…

If Nanson coaches RB’s Green Bay just let their linebackers coach go for something he said, not his coaching.

Perhaps now that all the hype has settled down on JT, a genuine QB competition can take place and the best QB for the system will prevail. I am sure KK knows how to select a starter and how to build an offense that will work for that guy staying within his offensive philosophy. If it is JT, great, but if it is someone else great also. I know he likes a guy that can take off with it.

Unfortunately, JT has many shortcomings as a quarterback. Granted, a tough kid with a great arm and maturity beyond his teen-aged years. But–he is a poor fit for a RPO offense (zero threat to run), and as a pure pocket passer he often can’t see over his linemen. And by his own admission, he is terrible rolling out as a QB. It will be an interesting spring….

Simply put…..Just because you can throw a football 60 yards, does not make you a quarterback !

Simply put… Just because you can run does not make you a quarterback either. 70% is what’s between the ears.

Simply put….Just how much of the staring down your receivers for four quarters is part of that 70%..?

I have to be honest — I haven’t seen any evidence of the “super-intelligence” of JT in his play. He actually operates fairly slowly, stares down his primary receiver most of the time, and he does not seem to anticipate blitzes frequently enough and audiblize into effective pass protections. He’s young, he can grow into it, and he needs to be coached up in a hurry. But the motor has to speed up. Especially if we go to an up-tempo, quick pass kind of thing.

I have yet to see a QB under Helton change a play at the line on his own. They do adjust to specific reads, but Helton has kept a tight reign on audibles for some reason.

True, and it’s a major flaw. That’s why we get burned by obvious blitzes all too often, miss opportunities for big plays, and one of the many reasons why Clay Helton has to call panic TOs on a regular basis when he doesn’t like our formation.
