Here is one prediction for Saturday: What’s Going To Happen Do … not … mess … with … a … streak. Sometimes a Kentucky does beat a Florida. Streaks do get broken, and if that happens, just tip your cap and move along. Of course the 1927 Colorado loss to USC has nothing to do with how good the teams are right now. However, the Buffs are getting a team with two weeks off to prepare for them – and with few questions about whether or not its focused. Montez will be fantastic, and he’ll come up with a huge… Read more »

They spent one week scouting themselves and will prepare for CU with one day in pads and the rest of the week they will be serving cupcakes and punch at practice. I love your optimism, I wish I still had some left. Expect nothing.

Further to our Bubba Bolden discussion the other day, Indiana just suspended its star running back for 2.5 YEARS for an alleged sexual assault of another student. I still say “alleged” because the running back denied it and he has not even been charged with the assault. But the violation was found to be true after a “hearing” and the penalty assessed by a “University panel.”

Folks, this is the new age.

If that man is innocent, this is a tragedy.

Yeah — I’d sure like for us to determine that before we kill his life off. By the way, with Bolden and the Indiana guy, it seems the 2.5 year suspension is the new way of kicking someone out of school without actually doing it. Of course no one will wait out a suspension like that and return to the same university. So gutless and disingenuous. Just kick a guy out and, if you’re right that he did it, you’ll win the lawsuit.

New age is right. Everyone is presumed guilty and needs to prove their innocence. It is very sad.

Not to be political but the left has lost its mind. I served on a jury the other day. A wife of 28 years accused her husband of rape. No proof other than her word. The jury ended in a hung jury. They called me every word in the book for three days until they decided to end it.

I applaud you for holding your ground Ill. Our system depends on that. The jury instructions typically provide that the testimony of a single witness, if believed, is sufficient to establish a fact of consequence in an action. That instruction assumes good faith of the trier of fact (jurors in your case). If the new standard were to become all accusations must be believed, which the left is clearly arguing is the new standard, that turns such a jury instruction into turpentine that is just waiting for a lit match to get near it! I am almost always going to… Read more »

And so now it seems, despite a bye week and mostly soft practices in helmets and shorts, the USC injury list is fairly long. It goes to my mantra that practicing lightly does not guarantee a short injury list, and practicing roughly doesn’t guarantee a long one. There isn’t much data for the latter point given all the bubble wrap and pillows we break out for most of our practices, but I’ll count 5 games thus far for purposes of this comparison. It seems the injury list grew longer once we stopped playing them. This assumes, of course, that Helton… Read more »

Some Pac 12 News –
Yahoo Sports exclusive: Document shows untrained ‘third party’ overruled controversial targeting call in Pac-12 game, WSU player not called, Gustin not called either, both should have. This belongs in the “What’s Wrong In The Pac 12”.

Incompetence is better than corruption. The Big12 refs that refused to give us an obvious safety after replay — THAT was corruption.

However, Targeting, no matter who does it, could get someone seriously hurt.

Well, yeah. So wait a minute — didn’t the Pac12 already take up the Porter target against Wazzu after the fact and say it wasn’t targeting? Now they say it was? (And it was.) What kind of ridiculous operation are they running there? And where are all the apologists on this board who defended Porter and said it wasn’t targeting now? Porter clearly now owes his participation in the first half of the Arizona game (and we perhaps owe our win against Wazzu) to an absurd dysfunctional Pac-12 day-to-day operation. Well, that’s just life with USC dancing on the win/loss… Read more »

Well the ads finally caught me. I love that this blog is free and not ever as negative as others, but today the vehicle which keeps it free ran me over. Reading from the recent post area that shows up on the bottom of my phone, I saw a headline “Troy Aikman goes off.” It wasn’t until I put my thumb down that I saw the microscopic ad square. I didn’t read past the the fact the former bruins quarterback suffers from ED before I went back to the beginning. Oh well everyone has their problems and I hope Troy… Read more »
