Seems to me Swann took the wrong approach. Of course I do not know what they have discussed, but it seems to me Swann would have sat down with KK and flat out asked him if he really wants to be at USC, and if he does why does he want to interview. If KK was honest and said yes, end of discussion, if he had said no, then perhaps let him interview and move on. It really seems these days loyalty runs pretty thin and a contract means nothing. If KK wants to resign to pursue a pipe dream… Read more »

Mike Florio of ESPN is saying (on twitter) that this is the first time in his 30 years in the business that a school (USC) has openly refused to let one of its coaches interview for a job. Regardless of the legalities of a contract, or morality or my desire to see Kliff stay, this will not good in the eyes of agents and coaches who we need to come to USC.
This Lynn Swann move strikes me as desperate and may be more about his true concern with Clay Helton.

The buyer’s remorse may be that Swann knows he should have sh*t-canned Hugs at the end of the season. Instead he talked big about wholesale coaching staff changes ala Brian Kelley and we ended up with one big hire who we can barely keep in the fold and what—2 or 3 other changes that may or may not be great staff additions? Oy vey!

Welcome to the big top. I was thinking earlier what a good morning it was that we signed both receivers, and that we stopped playing nice by denying KK interview access. Then the rumors come out that KK may resign just to have interview access. The circus is back in town. I can imagine the last couple of weeks of KK sitting in his office, missing lack of overall control of a program, maybe not on page with Helton’s philosophy and lack of structure, and regretting the whole mess. I get it. The ship is sinking and he sees it.… Read more »

Bru McCoy just said the right thing by saying he wants to play on the side of the ball where the coaches need him most. I’m thinking wishbone for the coaches.

Steele said that he didn’t want to go to a pac 12 school because of the refs. He said the SEC refs would be more forgiving of his aggressive style of play. Is there any more proof needed that Larry Scott needs to go?

My thoughts exactly. Often times in past several seasons I couldn’t see the interference being called. However if the kid wants to go to a school that never gets called even when there’s blatant interference Stafurd is the place for him. For some reason the PAC 12 refs can’t see the interference for the trees.

Oregonlivedotcom reported Steele saying he had Oregon second, right behind Florida. He also had that deleted tweet where he wrote that USC did not develop it’s players, according to 247Sports.

That was Biggie’s concern as well. I hate to say this but Steele made the right decision. The PAC-12 refs SUCK!!!!

He did. It just a weird thought to know that the pac 12 refs are scaring away recruits now. Absolutely pathetic!

Kyle Ford has announced that he will be attending USC in the fall of 2019.

The All-American Bowl is being played today, which means we can look for Chris Steele, Bru McCoy and and Kyle Ford making announcements as to the college that they want to attend. The Bowl game is being played in San Antonio, Texas and will start at 11:00 AM (PST), which means we can start looking for announcement news three hours later.

U.S. Army All American Game has a few Trojans. Drake Jackson who dominated all week in San Antonio has a sack already. Puca Nakua looks like a hidden gem in USC’s recruiting class. He’s going on one more visit to Washington. If he signs with SC I think he could have as great an impact as Bru Mckoy or Kyle Ford. His motor is only one speed and looks quick. But……. The class doesn’t jump at you with many stars. And when we are signing DT’s who only weigh 260Lbs it says USC IS A PRETENDER NOT A CONTENDER IN… Read more »

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that USC has refused the requests of the New York Jets and the Arizona Cardinals to interview Kliff Klingsbury.
As much as I do not want to see Kliff Kingsbury leave, I am not sure that USC’s decision will make any coaching candidate, with aspirations, want to come and coach at USC.

We just hired him two weeks ago. Why would you allow him to interview for another job while he’s getting paid. This leaves his job status in doubt and sends the wrong message to recruits especially in a critical time. I agree with the decision.

Not only a critical time for recruits, very critical for fan base. Now maybe we can relax and look forward for at least a year that USC will put the ball in the end zone.

I could understand the refusal if it were to another Collegiate team, however, limiting any coach to move up to the League is something which I don’t agree with and surely will be addressed by agents in future contract negotiations with USC.
This action by Swann/BOT will definitely damage any fruitful relationship it might expect with Kingsbury.

Profootballtalk.nbcsportsdotcom has an article stating KK may walk from USC if he’s denied interviews with the NFL.
