Talanoa Hufanga Preaches Consistency, Work Ethic…

When USC president Carol Folt announced Lynn Swann’s resignation, she also designated an 11-person search committee.

Two student-athletes have also been named to that committee: one is All-American track standout Anna Cockrell. The other is Talanoa Hufanga, USC’s budding superstar, but oft-injured, safety.

Hufanga  —  “I got my name called and I just had to show up and do my part. For me, it’s a growing opportunity to learn, be a sponge and learn.”

Hufanga has just started his involvement and he already knows what he’s looking for.

“We’re trying to recruit a person who comes in and gets the job done. Somebody who’s very successful in this area. And I’m just excited to get to work on it.”

“(I’ve learned) to just show up and just do your part. It’s just like football. You’ve got to be a consistent person every day, come in and do your part. That’s my role.”

No cups, tissues, wraps or any other debris on the ground. Detail oriented concerning everything. A… Read more »

All the parents involved in trying to ramrod their kid into SC had money to burn, and probably had no history of trouble with the law. So what were they thinking?– I bet they thought they were not hurting anybody and that there was little or no criminal risk.

There was never any thought to who their actions were hurting. The ones that did not get into the school of their choice through hard work.

Actually, they were selfishly thinking of themselves… Their kids needed to go to a great school for their reputation not the reputation of their children

My first reaction was either they want token student representative or the kids get the keys to the candy shop. Looking deeper I think the choice was more about making sure the new AD isn’t just football like most of us are, and the board is looking to the future instead of dwelling in the past. Otherwise they would have picked a Senior football player. I hope this works well. 10 years of sub SC is enough. I like the two students they called up.

That is great that Talanoa is on the committee! Hope he gets to help with picking a new coach too.
