Pac-12 Gets No Respect, Again…

SR WR Michael Pittman Jr. was named to The Athletic’s 2019 All-America 2nd team along with ALA JR WR Devonta Smith.

The Athletic’s first-team AAs at the WR spot are JR Ja’Marr Chase from LSU, and soph CeeDee Lamb from OU.

Of the 50 players who comprise both The Athletic’s 1st and 2nd teams, only seven are from the Pac-12: soph OT Penei Sewell (ORE, 1st team), JR TE Hunter Bryant (UW, 1st team), SR LB Evan Weaver (CAL, 1st team, JR LB Hamilcar Rashed Jr. (ORE ST, 1st team), SR S Julian Blackmon (UTAH, 1st team), DE Bradlee Anae (UTAH, 2nd team), and Pittman Jr.

The SEC landed 16 players on the two teams (four alone from Ed Orgeron’s LSU; all 1st-teamers) and the Big Ten placed 14 (four from OHIO ST, three from WIS and three from IOWA). CLEM also placed three on the two teams. That’s 33 of the top 50 players from the SEC, Big Ten and CLEM.

Sport websites are starting to pile on the PAC-12 as a weak sister football conference. And who’s fault is that? Totally the PAC-12 schools themselves and nobody else. While commissioner Larry Scott likes to brag about the schools scheduling tough non-conference opponents as well as its 9-conference game schedule, he cries about the other power 5-conferences having 8-conference schedules as a good reason? Sour grapes Larry….especailly when your conference is made up of a bun ch of mediocre teams these past 5-some years. And how do you explain when a USC plays a weak non-conference team like BYU and loses?… Read more »

Just to show how little respect the Pac-12 gets, the Redbox Bowl screwed up Cal’s name on their posters and shirts. They were referred to as “Cal State”. They’ve since removed those shirts from their website.

Or Commie State. I think that’s a little more fitting.

This is a self feeding problem. Across the board the West coast doesn’t go after local talent. The rest of the nation boasts of their Cali-kids and we get nothing. It isn’t just USC either, although their inept management hasn’t helped, the rest of the conference seems to be resting on their laurels. Oregon will probably get smashed in their bowl like Oregon State gets handled in the conference. I like Iowa’s chances against the team I grew up with. Our marquee programs are not much better than the high schools that filled their ranks

You have to earn what respect you get. And that points to the PAC-12 University President’s general lack of support for their football programs. You can’t just wiggle your nose and expect miracles to happen in creating a successful football program. Other Universities do it and they have less money to throw around than we do. But they know you have to sped money to make it. If you hire great professors for the classroom, then why don’t you do the same with the coaches teaching on the field? I live for the day some idiot claims the PAC-12 doesn’t… Read more »

Was watching the Lane Kiffin interview on Dan Patrick this morning, and it was mentioned that there was an Ole Miss welcome party at the tarmac when he arrived. Well you knew what was coming next. Dan brought up what happened at USC when he wasn’t even allowed on the bus back to campus. Embarrassing and classless of Pat. Then of coarse the mention of the Bruce Feldman article about the administration not wanting Ed Orgeron because they didn’t like his voice. Lane responded ; “well ask LSU how they like his voice” . More embarrassing. The hits just keep on… Read more »

Its all in the past and what happened then does nothing to help fix today’s issues other than learn from them. We need to deal with today’s issues keeping personal preferences out of the way and being professional about it. Not that those in charge now care to hear that?

Saw a photo on Twitter of Helton and the D Coaching staff including Clancy on a recruiting visit. Thought Clancy doesn’t like doing recruiting.

Also looks like he’s still our D Coordinator for now.

Aren’t we getting used to the snubs? It is pervasive in all areas of football. The PAC is going to crap and all the scholastic leadership can do is stand around and glad hand each other and give that worst ever commissioner all the praises. We are a joke because they let us become a joke. Thing is, they like it like that. As USC slides into mediocrity so does the PAC. Very soon we will be on par with the Mountain West. I never imagined I would ever see the things I am seeing now. Tragic in all ways.

Steveg I’ve been saying that for the last 2-years (PAC-12 becoming another MWC). It’s becoming evident we can’t even beat some of the MWC teams. Very sad but there’s no shame in the minds of PAC-12 leadership. They are just satisfied to hold out their hands for the TV money coming their way and while turning their backs on how they could make big money in football. Its called agenda

Everyone knows that the Pac 12 goes as USC goes. Yet USC keeps shooting themselves in the foot while also throwing up on themselves every chance they get. They can’t seem to get out of their own way. Then when USC does have some success, the pac 12 officiating crew will step up to make terrible call after terrible call to make sure USC fails. Add to that every single pac 12 team playing the game of their life to “upset” the Trojans, just to fall flat the next week against another pac 12 foe and embarrass the conference. It… Read more »

Between the terrible game times and the poor showing of the PAC outside of conference play we are not really doing anything to help ourselves out.

I remember year in and year out, the PAC would have a combined winning bowl record. Now it’s a long shot with so many mediocre teams. It’s clear to me that Folt and Bohn are more concerned about USC’s image than winning titles. What academicians don’t understand is that winning titles can go a long way to enhance image.

The liberal academics want to destroy athletics and subjugate it to the lowest thing on their leftist totem pole. They want money to not come in, they know how to blame it on the fans and alumni, it won’t be their fault. Simple liberal left politics as usual. Sorry, I hate politics but I hate what the left is doing even more.

There should be a rule, no Pac12 games on Friday night ever again. And no Pac12 kickoffs on Saturday after 6pm.
