USC and ASU Make Biggest Moves in Pac-12

No school jumped up into the top echelon of the rankings on LOI Day as sharply as USC, all the way to #3 per Rivals and easily into a commanding P12 lead over UW and ORE. The only crucial disappointment for USC yesterday was massive Utah OL Penei Sewell’s decision to sign with ORE.

Rumors had Sewell nearly committing to the Ducks last summer. Sewell’s final decision was also another blow to ALA’s Nick Saban, who didn’t enjoy the success he routinely achieves on the first Wednesday in February every year.

ASU also closed amazingly, moving from dead last in the conference and somewhere in the 60’s-70’s rank-wise, to #5 in the P12 behind USC, UW, ORE and UCLA. New Sun Devil coach Herm Edwards really had his doubters, but he closed hard. For a guy who insists he doesn’t care about star assignments and grades, Edwards sure delivered.
